Buddy's Place Spring 8 Week Session will begin March 2. Buddy's Place of Pillars is a family based children's grief support program for families with children ages 4-18 who have experienced the death of a parent or significant adult caregiver. The 8 Week Session is a closed, psycho-educational support group that meets for 8 consecutive Tuesday evenings from 6:15 to 7:30 p.m. in La Grange. Aging Care Connections (formerly Southwest Suburban Center on Aging), La Grange, will offer an Early Stage Memory Loss Program in eight weekly sessions for individuals and their family members dealing with early stage memory disorders at 111 W. Community Nutrition Network, in conjunction with the Aging Care Connections is in need of volunteers to deliver meals to frail, disabled or homebound seniors in the area. Each day Monday through Friday more than 130 meals are delivered to seniors in La Grange, Riverside, North Riverside, Lyons, Brookfield, Western Springs, Countryside, Hodgkins, La Grange Park and Indian Head Park. These areas are divided into five routes and two volunteers are needed for each route. One person drives and one person takes the meal to the door. Volunteers can commit to one day a week or more. SUMMIT AREA

Mrs. Bertha Jackson will be honored Sun., Feb. 28, at 10:30 a.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church, 7661 W. 63rd Place, Summit in honor of Black History Month. Rev. Dr. Jimmy L. Daniels will preside. For the past 11 years, Jackson has been coordinator of the Pillars "Yes I Can" Mentoring Program which mentors students in Summit School Districts 104 and 217. In addition to enrolling 50 or more students in the 2009-10 school year, the program boats of 22 students who have matriculated to colleges and universities in Illinois and across the country. She is assisted by 18 adult volunteers who live in the community and other suburban areas from the Coalition for Education.

The Argo Community High School Concert Bands, Jazz Band and Orchestra will present their annual Winter Band Concert Thurs., March 4, at 7 p.m in the Bulow Auditorium. Admission is $2 per person. The concert will present the music of early composers to present, from J.S. Bach to Robert W. Smith.
